'Serial' Killer Whale?

Before I start this hub let me please state that my prayers go out to the family and friends of Dawn Brancheau, who was killed by the killer whale at Seaworld. By no means are my comments a direct blast toward the trainer or lovers of animals yet my opinion about taking animals out of their natural habitat.

I read this article just a few hours ago and found myself very frustrated about some of the responses I have read and heard regarding the state of the animal, to kill the whale or not, among other things.

Why is that people are always so shocked and confused when wild animals attack? Seriously...WHY? I refuse to sit quietly any longer while a lot of people choose to pussyfoot around what is really going on here.

People are invading the natural habitats of animals in one way or another. They are going into their homes and seriously bothering them with video cameras, tags, and taunting. They are taking them against their will out of their homes, changing them to be what they feel an animal should be like in order entertain people and make money.

Question: If someone busted down your door right now, invaded your home and privacy, and caused you and/or your family to feel threaten...HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU FEEL? Then to top it off, what if they took you to the nearest cage or tank and begin to teach you things that were in no way important to you and far from what you were created to do? Then, they tell you now that you are doing what they want...they love you so much and expect you to love them back? All, this as they go back to the comfort of their natural habitat...untouched...at the end of day?

C'mon people...this is common sense!!! Animals are tired of human b.s.!!! Tilikum, a 12,000lbs killer whale has NO business being in a tank...he should be in the ocean! 

Now, I will be honest I don't know if I am qualified to be an animal activist since I do eat meat for at least one meal a day. I have been to Seaworld, the zoo, and the circus as a child but I suddenly feel bad about my trips.  I also am not a PETA extremist. Though I choose not to wear fur...no fear if you walk by me...I will not soak you in animal blood nor will I ever say someone should not be forgiven when they have made a bad decision but are taking the steps to educate themselves and turn from their mistakes...we'll save PETA for another article ;)

Anyways, I do feel we should respect animals. I know they feel pain and love and sadness and anger and fear as we do. Sometimes we need to take ourselves out of the picture and allow animals to just live...without us interfering. I was asked if I think Tilikum should be killed...especially since he has had two priors...NO I DO NOT!!! I cannot tell you exactly what he was thinking but I can tell you for about thirty years he has been caged up and put on display for the benefit of humans. I can only imagine how humilating, scary, depressing, and frustrating that can be...for anyone...animal or human!!!
